Commercial Litigation

Mr. Glassman has successfully handled virtually every aspect of commercial litigation through disputes in state court, federal court, various administrative forums and arbitration/mediation. In each instance, Mr. Glassman aggressively protects the client's interests while striving to keep litigation costs down. In the appropriate circumstances, he will craft consent decrees and settlements which are cost-effective and beneficial to the client.

Mr. Glassman has successfully obtained permanent injunctions against Newsday for unwanted solicitations to property owners. The case of Tillman v. Distribution Systems of America, 224 A.D.2d 79; 648 N.Y.S.2d 630, held that property owners have an absolute right to restrict unwanted advertisers from their property.

Construction Law

Mr. Glassman has experience prosecuting and defending construction claims. These claims include such contract issues as: delay claims, extra work claims, defective workmanship, guarantees, indemnities, contract modifications, mechanics lien issues, architect/engineer malpractice, compliance with laws and building codes, and related issues.

Condominium/Co-op

Mr. Glassman has extensive experience on both sides, representing individuals, as well as the Board of Managers and Board of Directors of many buildings in New York City. He has successfully sued Sponsors of Condominium conversions for fraud, breach of fiduciary duty and breach of the provisions of the Martin Act.

Bankruptcy

Mr. Glassman has represented both secured and unsecured creditors and debtors in Chapter 7 liquidation, Chapter 13 debt adjustments, and Chapter 11 reorganization cases. Mr. Glassman regularly represents owner and landlord interests in bankruptcy proceedings. Mr. Glassman is well versed in bankruptcy law and procedure, making representation cost-effective.

Mortgage Foreclosures

Mr. Glassman has been involved in virtually every aspect of mortgage foreclosure actions and successfully obtained judgments of foreclosure for lenders, and defeated lenders when representing the borrowers.

Landlord-Tenant

Mr. Glassman has been successful in handling a wide range of disputes between commercial and residential landlords and tenants, and has extensive experience in the procedural and substantive law of summary proceedings. Mr. Glassman litigates summary non-payment proceedings and complex holdover proceedings and, whenever necessary, appeals to the Appellate Term, Appellate Division and the Court of Appeals. He has also obtained injunctive relief, including Yellowstone Injunctions in Supreme Court, and has obtained substantial monetary recoveries in landlord/tenant matters brought in the Supreme and Civil Courts.

Real Estate Transactions

Mr. Glassman has handled numerous real estate transactions involving contracts and conveyances of commercial and residential real property, including 1031 tax free exchanges. The firm also negotiates commercial leases, service and construction contracts, alteration agreements and other building-related agreements. Mr. Glassman is well versed in the drafting and review of mortgage instruments, including purchase money mortgages, junior mortgages, wrap around and consolidated mortgages.

Matrimonial and Family Law

Mr. Glassman has extensive experience in all phases of matrimonial, family law and Estate practice. He has challenged probate, conducted depositions under section 1404, and has acted as an Executor and Trustee.

Personal Injury

Mr. Glassman has commenced negligence actions against major hotel chains, as well as Landlords, and, has been settling claims for bed bug bites, obtaining large cash settlements.
